Priority Area Goals and Performance

The Mental Well-being and Substance Abuse Prevention (MWSAP) priority area contains four overarching goals with specific objectives developed for each goal. The goals for the MWSAP priority area are:

  1. Reduce the impact of adult mental, emotional, and behavioral health disorders.

  2. Reduce the impact of pediatric mental, emotional, and behavioral health disorders.

  3. Reduce substance use disorders and drug overdose deaths.

  4. Reduce suicide behaviors and deaths.

MW 1.2: Decrease the percentage of adults aged 18 years and older who had poor mental health on 14 or more of the past 30 days.

The statewide data table displays the percentage (and percentage ranges) of adults aged 18 years and older who reported having poor mental health on 14 or more of the past 30 days in Florida from 2018 to 2022. The county data map displays the percentages (and ranges) of adults aged 18 years and older who experienced poor mental health on 14 or more days in the past 30 days across all Florida counties in 2019. The map highlights geographic areas with higher prevalence of severe mental health challenges. In Florida, the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey data is collected at the state level each year and it is collected at the county level every three years.
